Carmel Apple Cream Cheese Appetizer

Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients:

Salted Caramel Sauce

Makes a little over 2 cups.

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Cream Cheese Appetizer

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 4 tablespoons toffee bits
  • 4 apples / pears, cored and thinly sliced

Directions:

  1. Salted Caramel Sauce
    1. Do not stir: Add sugar to saucepan.
    2. Do not stir: Add water and bring to a boil until golden.
    3. Remove from heat, and stir in remaining ingredients. Mixture may foam.
    4. Cool
  2. Place cream cheese on a serving plate. Create a small well on the top.
  3. Spoon the caramel sauce into the well, allowing some to drip over the sides. Sprinkle evenly with toffee bits.
  4. Serve with sliced apple and pears.
